Notes from the January 5th, 2015 Informal Organizational Meeting

• Our first gathering at grunt gallery, our new location, was held Monday, January 5th, 2015 and was an informal organizational meeting.  Items discussed were the MPHG website, creating a project list, The Mount Pleasant Community Heritage Project (Gropps Gallery/144 East 6th Avenue) and formatting for future meetings.

• Mike Wiebe, whose eight 1/2 Restaurant in the Depencier House has a sign, mentioned how happy he and the folks at Nirvana Restaurant (J.F. Clark Building) are about having one and that they would like to keep the signs permanently.  It was suggested that sign recipients be offered the option of keeping the sign in return for a donation to cover the fabrication costs.  In addition, future signs should note on them the date the sign was awarded.  For ease of changing from year to year this could be done with a sticker.

• Going forward the MPHG meeting format will include presentations on general heritage interest items for the first hour and a working meeting focussed on MPHG projects for the second hour.  Attendees are welcome to make it for either or both hours.

Our next meeting is slated for Monday, February 2nd, 7 pm at grunt gallery – 350 East 2nd Avenue/Unit 116.
